Women, Infants, and Children Program
The main focus of the WIC program is to educate parents/caregivers on the proper nutrition for babies and young children. In addition to nutrition education, WIC clients also receive breastfeeding support and education, supplemental WIC foods, and referrals to other health and social services. WIC services provide support and answers from the beginning of your pregnancy all the way up to your child's fifth birthday.
Texas Supplemental Nutritional Assistance
The Texas Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is an entitlement program that provides monthly benefits to assist low-income households in purchasing the food they need to maintain adequate nutritional levels. Benefits are distributed through an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, the Lone Star Card, which essentially serves as a debit card exclusively for food benefits. Eligibility is based on yearly household income and family size.
SNAP Education and Outreach by Central
The Central Texas Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief charity in Central Texas. The Central Texas Food Bank works with food donors across the country, financial supporters and volunteers to fill unmet needs in Central Texas.
