2019 Healthy Summer Meals for Kids Program

Kids between the ages of 1-18 can participate in the Summer Meals for Kids program at locations around the local area! Youth age 18 and younger may eat breakfast and lunch for free every Monday- Friday from June 4 through August 9. Breakfast is from 7:30-8:30 a.m.; Lunch is 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Women, Infants, and Children Program (WIC) by City of San Marcos Texas. 

The main focus of the WIC program is to educate parents/caregivers on the proper nutrition for babies and young children. In addition to nutrition education, WIC clients also receive breastfeeding support and education, supplemental WIC foods, and referrals to other health and social services. WIC services provide support and answers from the beginning of your pregnancy all the way up to your child's fifth birthday.

​Buda United Methodist Church Food Pantry

To receive food you must live in Buda or Kyle zip codes, must show proof of current residency in the above area (current power bill would work), and show proof of identification of all persons living in the home. The amount of groceries given is based upon the number living in the home. Visits to the pantry are limited to 1 visit every 2 weeks.

Wednesdays 10am to 12pm 
Saturdays 8am to 10am 

Wimberley Crisis Bread Basket

Distributions: Tuesdays at 5:30-7pm and Thursdays at 3-4pm. In order to receive weekly food assistance, you must have a Wimberley address or have children in Wimberley schools. If you are in need of assistance, please contact the Crisis Bread Basket. First Baptist Church in Kyle

First Baptist Church in Kyle provides food, clothing, and housewares to needy families in Kyle and the surrounding area through the Shephard’s House. It is open to the public every Wednesday from 1:00-3:00 pm. St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church Food Pantry (Dripping Springs) 

They are open on Monday mornings in the building behind the Church, one block down Post Oak Road. Families receive canned goods, meats, breads, pastries, potatoes, eggs and frozen fruits (as available).  Please arrive between 9:00 AM and 11 AM on Monday morning if you wish to receive food. ​Location: 26160 Ranch Road 12, Dripping Springs, TX ​

Helping Hands Food Pantry (Dripping Springs)

Helping Hands food Pantry in Dripping Springs, TX is open every Wednesday (1:30-3:00pm) and Thursday (5:00-6:30pm). Non-perishables and meat, eggs and bread are available. A client intake form is required. Call Helping Hands at  (512) 820-0476. ​Centro Esperanza Community Center Mobile Food Pantry: 

Centro Esperanza strives to provide services that exist for the community by the community. Their focus is to provide health and wellness programs, adult and youth education programs, and basic needs referrals for the surrounding community. Click here for more information: http://www.centroesperanzasmtx.com/programs ​
Eligibility for their mobile food pantry:  Agency staff qualifies individuals based on their income (verbal declaration) by using a voucher provided by the SAFB and Federal Income Guidelines. 
Services: On the day of the event, the Mobile Pantry comes filled with a variety of produce, frozen and refrigerated product to provide supplemental food assistance to qualified families and individuals. Each Mobile Pantry vehicle can comfortably provide 200 families with up to 50 pounds of food. The Mobile Food Pantry occurs once a month, check out the next calendar date! To apply, stop by the center to pick up an application during our hours of operation or bring in your completed application. 
Vouchers available 3 weeks prior to event. During hours of operation: Monday 9am - 1pm, Wednesday 1pm - 5pm, Friday 9am - 1pm

Texas Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP)
by Texas Department of ​Health and Human Services (HHS)  

The Texas Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is an entitlement program that provides monthly benefits to assist low-income households in purchasing the food they need to maintain adequate nutritional levels. Benefits are distributed through an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, the Lone Star Card, which essentially serves as a debit card exclusively for food benefits. Eligibility is based on yearly household income and family size.

First United Methodist Church: FREE Dinner

First United Methodist Church offers FREE dinner on Wednesday nights during the school year (excluding holidays). Served 5:30-615pm. Located at 129 W Hutchison St, San Marcos, TX. 

SNAP Education and Outreach by Central ​Texas Food Bank

The Central Texas Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief charity in Central Texas. The Central Texas Food Bank works with food donors across the country, financial supporters and volunteers to fill unmet needs in Central Texas.

South Side Community Center

A hot meal is served daily at 5:00 pm at the South Side Community Center located at:
518 S. Guadalupe Street, San Marcos, TX 78666. 

San Marcos Public Library

Until August 10, 2018, the San Marcos School Lunch Program will provide FREE Lunch for all kids (up to age 18) at the library! Children can get a healthy meal from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM daily. Adults may buy a plate for $3.00. For information about meals at other locations, contact SMCISF Child Nutrition: 512-393-6940.
